Self Portrait
Since I have never done a proper self portrait, I decided to finally do that. After picking a photo of myself that I liked, I began sketching it on an A3 piece of paper. When I was happy with the sketch, I started adding watercolour, working from light to dark. Later on, I worked on the hair, as well as smaller, finer details, such as the eyes, lips, and necklace using colouring pencils. And, finally, to finish off, I went in with a fine liner, as well as a white gel pen, to add the eyelashes, and the highlights. I also decided to paint the background with black acrylic paint, in order to make the figure stand out, and to create some contrast within the piece.
I am really happy with the outcome. I think the strongest element is the hair, as it shows movement, and makes the whole self portrait more dynamic
