Into the wild Netflix film - short response
In the 90s, a young man decides to give away everything he's got as soon as he has finished high school; his money, his clothes and other prized possessions, to travel alone and find some peace and clarity. I found this film to be very eye opening. Seeing someone travel so far away from home without a phone, laptop or internet access, completely alone, made me realise how much simpler life would be if one were to do this. It also made me think that perhaps this is not as impossible of a task as I had thought it to be. Our life seems to be centres around the internet, social media, and the acceptance and opinions of others, seeing this film made me realise that I can lead a different life. Although I do not plan on running away to the North Pole like the main character did, it made me think that through spending more time on the things I'm passionate about, and that matter to me, rather than starring at a screen for most of my day, I can lead a richer more fulfilling life.
